Dentōkan Jūjutsu

Jūjutsu
is an art that is characterized by throws and manipulation of the joints
.

The style of Jūjutsu that is taught at Azamikan Dōjō is called Dentōkan Jūjutsu, which was founded by Roy J. Hobbs.  This is a branch of Hakkō Ryū Jūjutsu, which is in turn descended from Daitō Ryū Jūjutsu, an art with a history of approximately 900 years.

Included within the Dentōkan Jūjutsu syllabus is the study of Iaijutsu (sword-drawing techniques) and Jōjutsu (4-foot staff techniques).  This part of the curriculum is formally known as Dentō Shōshin Ryū.
